In the Name of God the Father the Sonne and

God the holy Ghost Amen the twentith daie of July in the yeare of our Lord gos one thousand sixe

hundred and seaventene I Richard Goade of the borough of Abingdon in the County of Berkes yeoman

being whole in bodie and mind and of good and perfecte memory thankes be unto the holy trinitye three 

persons and one Almightie god for the same doe nowe make my last will and testament written with my 

owne hand in manner and form following first of all I comment my sowle into the hands of god my maker

faithfully hopinge for his infinitt mercies sett forth in the death of his only deare and belovedsonne Christ 

Jesus my all sufficient and only saviour and redemer being the lambe undefiled and without fpott yjtough

whole pretious blowde I have redemption even the forgiveness of my sinnes that the will receive it into his glory

and place it even in the company of the heavenly angells and blessed sainctie And my wretched bodie to the 

earth from whence it came nothing doubting but according to the article of my faithe at the great daye of 

the general resurrection I shall receive the selfe same bodie againe and shall see god in my fleshe and I my

self shall behould him not with other but with these same eyes be the omnipresent power of my good God

where with he is able to subdue all things unto him selfe Incorruptable immoriall and in all pointed like unto

the gloryous bodie of my only lord and savoiur Jesus Christ the righteous first I confesse that I doe not 

owe nor am I indebted to any living creature in this world but only Christian good will and love And

concerning that finall substance which I have carfully and painefully gotten by my owne industry and Gods

blessings I doe fully and freely give and bequeath as followeth first I give and bequeath to the Cathedrall 

Church of Sarum six shillings eight pence Item to the parish church of St Helen in Abingdon three 

shillings four pence Item to the vicar of the same churche two shillings Item I gyve and bequeathe unto 

my brother William Goade of Reading in the County of Berke fortye poundes of like lawfull

money Item I give to my sister Margarett Goade of Twyforde in the County of Berks or willls and now 

remaining with my Aunt Hatch there forty pounds of the lawful money Item I give unto my said Anne 

Hatch widdowe fortye shillings of like lawfull englishe money Item I give bequeath unto the towne

of Colbrooke in the County of Bucks here I was borne and made a Christian twenty poundes of like

lawfull money to be imployed and bestowed uppon the poore people fatherless children the lame & impotent

perpetually as profit may growe thereby being imployed for the last advantage by the Chappell war-

dens and overseers of the poore there with the assent of fower of the best and substantiall honest men of the

saide towne and that they yearly make an account thereof unot the succeeding Chappell wardens soe as 

the same maye be imployed as above saide to the use of the poore only and this to be and continue forever

Item I give and bequeath tenn pounds of like lawfull money unto the saide towne for a sermon to be 

preached in the Chappell there either by the minister of the towne if he be a sufficient schollar or by hise

other honest sufficient and diferett minister or preacher uppon every good friday foe ever wherein

he shall teach the people the true cause of the death and passion of Christ for the sinned of the 

whole earth whose some twetie of his glorious Resurection at the disecetion of the preacher Item I give unto

my late M[aste]r William Stonehowse Esquire twenty six shillings eight pence to make him gold rings in

remembrance of my dutifull love to him Item I give to my late M[istr]es Elizabeth Stonehouse whose tender care

was great over me in the time of my sicknes and at other times when I was there servant tenne poundes

Item more to her twenty six shillings eight pence to make her a ring of gold in token of my thankfull

remembrance whom god requite in his everlasting Kingdom I give to the towardly and hopefull

young Gentleman M[aste]r John Stonehouse there eldest sonne twenty six shillings eight pence to make a

gold ringe in token of my love to him Item I give to M[aste]r George Stonehowse twenty shilling to make 

him a gold ringe for the like remembrance Item I give unto M[aste]r William Stonehowse twentie shillings 

to make him a gold ringe for the like remembrance Item I give to the Religious and truly virtuous 

gentlewoman M[istres]s Elizabeth Stonehowse their eldest daughter my guilt bible and twentie six 

shillings eight pence to make her a gold ringe for the like remembrance Item I give to M[istres]s  Marie 

Laughton twenty shillings for the like remembrance Item I give to M[istres]s Ursula Stonehowse twenty

shillings to make her a gould ringe for the like remembrance Item to M[istres]s Anne Stonehowse twentye

shillings to make her a ring for the like remembrance Item to M[istres]s Dennis Stonehowse twentie

shillings for the like remembrance item to Richard Hide of weeke Esquire my loving frende I give

and bequeath twentie six shillings eight pence to make hime a ring of gold with this inscrip=

tion Mors mihi lucrum about a deaths head Item I give to the vertuoud gentlewoman his wife 

twenty six eight pence to make her a golde ringe for the like remembrance Item to John Buckner

of Abingdon Gentleman my frend and sntient acquaintance twenty shillings to make him

a gold ring for a token of my love to him Item I give to Mr Robert Cuttross Gentleman dwellinge

in wodstreate nere the cownter in hand ally in the Citty of London twenty shillings to make

him a ringe of gold for a remembrance of antient love betweene us Item to Richard Royuck my

god sonne of Radley I give forty shillinges Item I give to my goddaughter Elizabeth Harper of Radley

fortye shillings Item I give to Ursula Crowch my other goddaughter in Radley fortie shillings Item 

I give and bequeath unto Margaret Grene my house frend and late my fellow servant in

Radley about tenne yeares fortie shillinges and like wise my booke of St Augustines prayers bownde

up in Tawny Velvett Item I give unto balentine Tuckley and his wife tenne shillinges Item to poore

James Billey parishe Clerke of St Hellen in Abingdon fortie shillinges Item to porter the bell 

ringer pf St Nicholas Churche there tenn shillinges Item to widowe Blannche and to James 

Blannche her lame sone tenne shillinges they dwell nere Banbury court Item to all the poore

people dwelling in the North St Hellens streat there fortie shillings Item I doe make ordaine

my loving brother Henrie Goade dwelling in St Clements Lane beyond St Clementes 

well nere to the field within the suburbes of London in parte of the widowe Segood her house

my full and absolute executor and doe give him all my substance not bequeathed assuredlie

hoping that he will honestlie and faithfully performe this last office of faithfull and brotherly 

love unto my And I doe further entreate my good friends Mr Richard Hide of Week Esquire 

and Mr Richard Cheeken of the borough of Abingdon gentleman to be the overseers of this 

my last will and testament and doe give unto each of them fortie shillings  apeece for their 

paines taken about the same In wytnes where of have hereunto set my hand and seale
