In the name of God Amen I
John Guy of Colebrooke in the countie of Bucks Chandler being
weake and infirm in bodie but praised be God of sound and perfect
Memorie and understanding doe make this my last will and testament
in manner and form following first and principally I commend my soul
to God Allmightie the father of Spirite that gave it to him Item I
give my body to the Earth of which it was made to be decentlie buries at the
discretion of my dear wife Beatridge Guy whom I appoint sole Executrix of
this my last will and Testament Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne
John Guy All those three tenements of cottages situate and being in the
town of Uxbridge in the Countie of Middx with all and every of their
Appurtenances I have and to hold unto him and his heirs forever Upon
the condition that my said sone John Guy shall pay the summe of one hundred
pounds for the which I did mortgage my Messuage in Colebrook called the
Bell unto Mathew Smith of Langley And also shall pay and discharge the
Interest of the said hundred pounds in such manner and form and at such
times as I have Covenanted and agreed to pay it in the said Mortgage And
in case my said sone John Guy shall refuse or neglect to pay the said sum
of one hundred pounds with the interest thereof at the times according to
the Covenant and Agreement of the said deed of mortgage as aforesaid
then my will is and I doe devise the said three tenements or cottages
unto my said wife Beatridge Guy and her heirs forever she paying the
one hundred pounds with the interest according to the agreement as above said
And in Case my said son John Guy doth paid the said one hundred pounds
with the Interest as aforesaid that then they may goe to him and his heirs
forever as above said And upon this further Condition also that hee my sonn
John Guy shall yearie and every year pay unto my wife Beatridge Guy
and her assigns the summe of fortie shillings during the term of her
natural life at the four most usual feasts in the yeare that is to say
att the feast of the Nativity of out Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ

The Annunciation of the blessed virgin Mary the Nativity of St John
the Baptist and at the feast of St Michael the Archangell by even
and equall portions the first payment to begining the next feast day after
it please God to take me out of this mortal life And in Case the said
fortie shillings shall be behind and unpayed by the space of fortie daies
next after and of the said feast daies on which it ought to be paid in
part or in all that then it shall be lawfull for my said wife or her
assigns to enter the said tenement or cottages or any of them and
to distraine and the distresses soe taken to carried away and keepe until the
said fortie shillings with the Damages for the detaining thereof
shall be satisfied and paid Item I give and bequeath into my dear wife
Beatridge Guy and her heirs forever All that my Messuage or Tenement
known by the name of the Bell situate in Colebrooke in the parish of
Horton in the Countie of Bucks and also all that tenement there unto
adjoyning lateie on the occupation of William Frances with their and all
and everie of therie Rights Meembers?? and Appurtenances upon this
condition that she my said wife shall pay unto my son Thomas
Guy and William Guy the summe of threescore pounds apeece wen
they shall come or attain unto thouse several ages of twenty and
five years And also unto my son James Guy the summe of three
score pounds to be paied unto him att the age of twentie and five years
And to my daughter Beatrix Guy the summe of three score and tenne
pounds when she shall arraine unto the age of twentie and two years
And my will id that if any of my said children Thomas William
James or Beatrice shall die before they attaine to their several Ages
aforesaid that then their severall portions before and lymited to be
paied shall be equallie divided between my wife Beatridge Guy and
the survivors of them And further my will is that the Ages of my
fower said children for the paying out of their portions shall be taken and
estimated to be according as I have sett and written them down with my
owne hand in my greate bible Which Bible I doe hereby give unto my
sonne John Guy to be kept and preserved for the manifestacon of
their said ages But in case my said wife shall refuse or neglect to
pay unto my said sons Thomas William and James the sums of
three score pounds apeece and unto my daughter Beatridge the some of
three score and ten pounds at their several ages as aforesaid then I
give the said messuages and tenements thereunto adjoining unto my said
son Thomas Guy and his heires forever he paying unto his brothers
Thomas and James the aforementioned summ of three score pounds apeece
and to his sister Beatrix the sume of three score and tenne pounds att
her respective Age before mentioned And if either of them die before
theire several ages that his or her portion to be equallie divided
between my wife Beatridge Guy and the survivors Item I give unto my
deare wife Beatridge Guy all my Money Goods Debts and Chattles
whatsoever towards for the duration and bringing up of my said children
Item I doe chose and nominate my dear and loving friend John
Lane Gentleman Grocer and Citezen of London to be overseer of this
my last will and testament for his care and paines in it I give
him five shillings to bey him a paire of Gloved In witness whereof
I have sett my hand and seale the either and twentieth day of
March 1654 These words which are underlined that my sonne
James portion to be paid him at the Age of twenty and five years
is my will And it was underlyned before the sealing hereof
John Guy the testator This acknowledged to be my last will & testament
in the presence of Tho Burcombe George Fellowes
