Will of Amblen, Jacobi   1723


In the name of God Amen

I James Amblen of Colbrooke in the County of Bucks

Innkeeper being sick and weak in body but of sound mind 

memory and understanding (praised be God therefore do make

this my last will and testament in manner and form following

(that is to say) First I commend my soul unto the hands of 

Almighty God hoping through the merits death and passion

of Jesus Christ my redeemer to receive Remission of my 

sins my body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the

discretion of my executrix hereinafter named and as 

touching all my worldly Estate where with it hath pleased

God to bless me I give and dispose thereof in manner and 

form following (that is to say) Imprimis all that my Messuage 

or Tenement or Inn where in I now dwell with the barnes 

stables outhouses and gardens with all and singular the 

appurtenances thereunto belonging with all that Close 

adjoyning to the said premises I give devise and bequeath

unto my dear and loving wife Elizabeth for and during the 

term of her natural life and from and after her decease I 

give devise and bequeath all and singular the premises

aforesaid unto my two daughters Mary and Elizabeth and

their heirs and assigns for ever share and share alike Item  

I unto my said wife the use of all my goods and chattels 

for her life and after her decease I give the same unto my 

said two daughters equally to be divided between them share

and share alike Item I all the rest residue of my personal 

estate of what kind or nature soever I give and bequeath 

unto my wife and I do hereby make her full and sole 

executrix of this my last will and testament in witness

whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twentieth

day of may in the ninth year of the reign of our Sovereign 

Lord George by the Grace of God of Great Britain France

and Ireland King defender of the faith &c Anno Domini 

one thousand seven hundred and twenty three James 

Amblen   Signed  Sealed Published and declared by the said

Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence 

of us who have set our names here to in the presence of the said 

Testator Tho Rayner  Geo Fellows  Dan Foster Jnr
